Milen Raytchev, PhD
Senior Research Design Engineer
Profiles
Dr. Raytchev has been interested broadly in enabling technologies and their applications. At Schepens Eyer Research Institute and Massachusetts Eye and Ear, he intends to contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale automatic image export, aggregation and API development that would be enabling to AI researchers in ophthalmology. He also intends to test those technologies by participating actively in research efforts.
He studied physics in his home country of Bulgaria, in Germany, and in the US. Specifically, he investigated DNA by means of ultrafast laser spectroscopy and optical tweezers. He then transitioned to imaging research and engineering. His efforts contributed to the field of structural biology, imaging physics as applied to radiation oncology, and to the proprietary imaging software of a niche inspection equipment integrator company.
