Biography

Next Position after Training Completion: Undergraduate Student in Artificial Intelligence at Carnegie Mellon University.

Abhilash Katuru is a high school junior attending Coppell High School in Dallas, TX, with plans to graduate in May 2024. Due to his deep fascination with computers since a young age, Abhilash has immersed himself in the realm of computer programming, eventually delving into Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. He has recently been recognized as the first-place winner at the Texas State TSA Convention for building a deep learning model capable of understanding and translating American Sign Language, and furthermore enabling easy two-way communication for people with hearing loss. Presently, Abhilash is researching a cheaper alternative to the detection of glaucoma. Instead of relying on fundus imaging only available at clinics, he is investigating an alternative approach using external eye photos with deep learning to detect glaucoma, which is more accessible and affordable to low-income population.
